Miles' 6th Birthday Party

Miles had a great time at his 6th birthday party!  He celebrated with about 15 kids from school (including a few siblings) and the Williams.  He insisted on a party at home -- which we had to postpone for 24 hours due to a crazy rainstorm in Charlotte -- and it ended up being a huge success!  We rented a super, fun jumpy and the kids played in it for hours.  Six is fun, indeed!

This is my first post with my new Mac and I cannot figure out how to reorganize the pictures.  I'll work on it before my next post.  :)

From the Mouths of Babes

Is that so?
Brooke: Stop jumping on the couch!
Miles: Mom, Griffin isn't jumping. He's dropping.

With sympathy
Miles: Mom, what does "d-y-d" spell?
Brooke: It doesn't spell anything, Miles.
Miles: (shaking his head) Its ok, Mom. I'll ask Dad.

Love that memory
Miles: (out of the blue) Mom, do you really have eyes in the back of your head?

A child-like perspective (and good reminder)
Brooke: Man, it is gross and rainy out!
Noah: Mom, I see the rain. I don't see anything gross.

Oh, brother
Miles: Mom, I'd like a huge mirror in my room.
Brooke: Why?
Miles: So that I can look at myself!

They weren't that bad! :)
Noah: Mom, your legs are so hairy that you have hair on top of your hair!

Using his SAT words
Miles: Mom, we're going to have to "turn nocturnal" so that we can finish this puzzle! (We were trying to finish up a 500 piece puzzle)

Amp-it up, Mom
Brooke: Noah, do you want to go to Discovery Place today?!
Noah: Mom, please ask me if I want to go to Disney World today.

A little theology while snacking (& music to my ears)
Noah: ......and God died.
Will (our neighbor): God didn't die. He was always there.
Noah: Right! Jesus died. Then He went to heaven.
Miles: AND, if we want to go to heaven, we just have to believe in Him.

Brotherly Love

Easter Pix - Do you have a favorite?

Hope Bray, the photographer that took our family pictures last summer is having a little Easter photo contest. Over the past 2 days I've tried to get some cute pictures of the boys. I think getting a planned picture of 3 kiddos is virtually impossible. Reason #1 that I'll never be a professional photographer. :) Its still fun to snap 'em, though!

Send me an email or comment if you have some favorites. I'm going to try to decide by the end of the day today (Sunday) which 3 to submit.

I got so excited about the cute smiles, that I stopped paying attention to my light meter. This is overexposed (as are a few others), which is such a bummer. Can't help but love their enthusiasm though.

I love these of Mike & Miles.

Shout it to all the earth, boys!

I had to catch Griffin on his own. He was too busy playing to stop for a group shot. Here he is with his Easter chick.

What's up Doc?

"Easter morning excitement"

Just including these for fun. I love how the light is shining down on the boys' feet on the second one...almost like an angel shining down from heaven....

Practicing for Easter

I found some cute bunny ears the other day for $1. Then, I noticed carrots with tops at the grocery store. I decided to scoop them all up to try and take some cute Easter pix of the boys. Clearly we'll need a few practice runs before I get our final shots. :)

Is it any surprise that the carrots turned into swords?!

Carrot on the head...Miles is always trying to get a laugh out of "opposite day" and crazy faces. Check out Griffin. Its as if he's thinking, "dude...what's up with that?"

Swing it, baby...

Welcoming Spring

Wait... Spring doesn't mean 'no more school'?!?

Muffins with Mom

Griffin's teachers hosted a sweet 'Muffins for Mom' event this week. Griffin had breakfast at home and then scarfed down 4 muffins at school. Must be strategically bulking up for those brotherly wrestling sessions...

Thanks, Kate, for taking our picture!

Pumpkin Cake

Miles and Noah are in a baking phase, so we've been cooking up a storm. Yesterday we made a pumpkin cake by tripling a bread recipe and using a fun bundt pan.

Before we got started, I made chef hats for the boys. After Miles checked out his baseball/chef hat combo in the mirror, he matter-of-factly said, "Mom, I look RIDICULOUS." He proceeded to make his own version, more to his liking.

With the hat situation figured out, its time to get silly!

Miles is the Master Egg Cracker!

It cracks me up that the boys can't dive into cake without first christening it with candles. Wonder what they wished for?
Griffin and I read a few books in Miles' classroom this morning. As we walked to the car, I couldn't get over how Griffin looks simultaneously so big and so little.

Noah spent the morning playing up with Austin. Midway through the fun, they decided that 'everything is better when you're only wearing undies.' They are insanely silly together and talk non-stop. Reminds me of the my relationship with Beth. Another perfect match.

Muddy Waters

Griffin was the instigator for some good old fashion puddle jumping. He grabbed his shoes and repeated, "side! side!" until we indulged him. All 3 boys had a blast....with Noah and Griffin living it up the most (at one point Noah was sitting in the mud puddle).

When Griffin had had enough, he threw up his hands, said "all done" and walked home. Priceless.

Hangin' with Grover

We went to a bookstore on Saturday that was hosting some fun activities -- animals (Griffin touched a snake!), science experiments, face painting. I took a bunch of pictures, but this one is definitely my favorite. :)

Lovin' the Lumpkins

We met Jen and her cute kiddos at Discovery Place. Harper was miss social and kept inviting Noah to join her in activities. After about an hour, Noah wrapped up his solo play and the two of them romped around together. I can definitely see them being little buddies.

Drew is a couple of months younger than Griffin and is a total go-getter. If you could splash in it, she did; if you could climb it, she did. You name it, she was up for it. She had so much fun at the water table, that she needed a costume change into Griffin's back-up clothes. The boyish colors don't take away from her girly cuteness one bit!

Griffin is an animal fanatic. True-to-form, check him out in this picture.

Looking forward to many more adventures with the Lumpkins!
