Labor Day Weekend

We had a really great Labor Day weekend. My mom was here on Friday/Saturday, which was such a treat. We stayed really low-key on Saturday night and Sunday: we played in our jumpy slide....we played kick-ball....we went to the park. It was laid back and really nice.

They boys and I often hang out at parks, but it was really fun to have Mike there with us.

Mike and Miles headed over to the grass so that Miles could ride his bike. This picture cracks me up. Total mini-me.

Noah and Griffin spent the entire time climbing on the play equipment. Of course, at least one of our boys was toting a lovie-du-jour.

I love how Griffin is just in-the-mix. He's very physical and will try anything. Put it in front of him, and he'll climb it. This first thing he's climbing is twisty and tall. He zipped up it without a care.

Griffin has been growing like crazy this summer --- meaning he talks a ton, mostly in sentences, and he does so much for himself. He's been sleeping in a double bed (w/o rails) for 3 weeks now. It was such an easy transition for him. We took his crib down, but his bed up and that was it. He popped out of him room once and I put him right back in, and that was it. He wakes up and stays in his room until we come to get him. Its a-m-a-z-i-n-g. When Miles was that age, he would wake up, walk downstairs, and walk right out the back door. We woke up many mornings to the sound of the house alarm going off. When Noah moved to a bed, he also started sharing a room with Miles. As soon as one of them woke up is was an immediate play-fest (read: running through the house like crazy people). The stereotype that the 3rd child is laid back & chill definitely rings true in our house.

Griffin also seems to be a sports guy. He loves balls and gravitates toward sport-y things (e.g. he'll pick out pjs that have balls, etc.. on them verses cute animals or monsters). This picture cracks me up, too (didn't notice it while I was taking the picture). Looks like he's got the "way to go, buddy"/buns smack that he'll need for future team sport days.

On Saturday night, Miles, Noah and I camped out in the backyard. I'd be wanting to do it since Uncle Brad set up his tent at my parents' house this summer. He entertained the kids by reading to them in the 'fort' and they loved it. Its been on my do-do list since.

Here we are, around 8:30pm, ready for stories and bed. It was probably 10:30pm before the boys finally fell asleep, but we slept there all night. Miles woke up at 7am and Noah slept until 7:30am. A great success, I'd say!

Just before we jumped into the tent, Miles wanted to take a 'crazy picture'. I was trying to 'sling spiderman's web' with my hands. I think I ended up making a 'rock & roll' sign. I'm such a dork.
