Soccer

Noah started playing soccer at the Y a few weeks ago. To say that he LOVES it is an understatement. He asks me everyday if its a day for practice (Friday) or a game (Saturday). He is giddy on the field (I can't count the number of times I've seen him bust out some sort of irish jig on the field while waiting for the kick-off or the ref to blow the whistle).

The kids play eight 5-min periods. The first game Noah played 1/2 the time (4 kids play on the field at a time and they have 9 kids on their team). The second game several kids were sick so Noah played almost the entire game.  They've won both games - which is fun - though Noah has told me on several occasions that "it doesn't matter if we win or lose, mom" (which I'm guessing won't bode well for him if he decides to continue playing sports....kind of feel like you need at least a little of a competitive spirit :).

Noah loves playing goalie.  Sometimes he's "in position" ready to go.  Other times he is all caught up in the net and we worry that he's going to be handcuffed while the other team kicks a ball in.  :)  So far no one has scored on him and he has caught several attempted goals.

Noah plays on the same team as our neighbor, Davin (also 5). Davin is here holding the ball. Noah's in front of him (#12).

Davin's sister, Elloree, is Griffin's age.  She hangs with us on the sidelines too.

After the game, all of the parents join hands to make a passageway for the kids to run through and shake hands with the other team. Its really cute.

During the 1st game, Noah stopped in his tracks when his school friend, Gavin, ran by him on the field (opposing team). It was so hilarious to see him completely forget about the game. As soon as Gavin got off the field, he ran over to our side to hang out with Noah. It was really cute.

The kids wanted to run around and play. They were so excited to see each other outside of school.

We parents insisted that the boys watch/cheer for their teammates, so they hung out next to each other in our chairs {which I thought was insanely precious}.

I'll have to post some video of next week's game.  Its super cute!
