So, after Griffin, Noah and I had lunch with Miles at school today, we decided to swing by the Habitat for Humanity Restore and see if there was anything project worthy. We picked up these two items and I'm so excited to transform them. I'm thinking I might end up with a color scheme feeling of this green desk between my two pieces (maybe a fun green for the desk, black for the chair, and a fun fabric on the seat cushion?).
$25 (love the history; i'm sure mike is shuttering as he's reading this)

$45 (going to try to figure out the age of it -- the writing below is faint, but legible)

Noah and Griffin ate popsicles while I unloaded the pieces, then climbed all over them. LOVE the X on the back of the chair. It stands for "kisses" of course.

I'm envisioning the boys climbing all over the chair and enjoying having it and the desk.

I'm excited to get started! Maybe a spring break project, while the boys are playing around in the jumpy slide. Time to get priming....can't wait!

Definitely blog about how this turns out! I have old chairs I want to paint & recover, too. Have you seen this month's Martha Stewart Living magazine? There are some really cute old chairs like the one you have repainted & recovered if you need more inspiration!
You go, girl! Can't wait to see the finished project. There is a new fabric store on Park Ave (across from Carrabas) called Modern Fabric so you might want to pay a little visit there over spring break, too. Keep me posted.
My goodness – aren’t you ambitious! I’m sure it will prove worthwhile :) Mom
LOVE that green desk! I am NOT bold with colors (except for the kids' bathroom) and would love more splashes of color like that!
I can't wait to see what you end up doing!
The chair label says Tomlinson! I toured their showroom when I was in design school! They were a top label back in the day and still are. I was surprised it was in a hotel. It looks like maybe early 50s late 40s design and is maybe cherry. If it is very doesn't weigh much then it might be mahogany. Here the link to their site. Looks like they merged with or are now owned by Erwin Lambeth. And!!!!, Barry Dixon, my favorite designer, designed some pieces for them!
The desk looks like pine. Good luck! N
omg what an awesome find! i am always drooling over those diy blogs too!! i need to find chairs and redo them for photo shoots, etc. must look into this habitat sale you are talking about.
